Omaria Sanchez Pratt is a black queer writer from North Carolina. They hold an M.F.A. from the University of Kentucky where they were a recipient of the 2018 Nikky Finney Fellowship.
They write about the South, Black girlhood, sexuality, and the working class and hope to continue the legacy of Black feminist writers who make known the importance of writing marginalized communities and how much they’ve shaped the country.
Omaria has been published in Story Magazine and the Anthology of Appalachian Writers, where they were nominated for a Pushcart Prize. They bring a varied work experience from their time as an intern with The Moth and The Center for Fiction, editor of New Limestone Review, and teaching fellow at the Community College of Philadelphia. Omaria also enjoys baking in their free time and nature hikes.
