An experienced and respected voice on electoral strategy, campaign management, grassroots organizing, and public policy, Mercedes Fulbright is a Southern Queer organizer, strategist, and DJ.
She is the Director of Civic Engagement at Re: Power and supports the leadership of grassroots organizers and activists to envision and utilize electoral organizing as a base-building tool to build political power for their communities.
During the 2020 summer uprisings, she co-founded a coalition of organizations and emerging organizers called In Defense of Black Lives Dallas. She formally led the Texas Working Families Party as Organizing Director with a mission to build a mass multiracial, anti-racist movement for a more just future for all Texans.
During the 2022 Democratic Primary, she helped to elect a Democratic Socialist from Texas to Congress in her role. She also established the Texas chapter of Local Progress, a national network of progressive municipal elected officials, as the former Texas State Coordinator.
Mercedes is also a founding table member of the Electoral Justice Project with the Movement for Black Lives.
