Krystal is a second-generation Chinese American, born and raised in the various climates of the San Francisco Bay Area. They have an Associate Degree in Social Sciences and soon an Associate degree in Social Justice. Through lived experiences and education they have been working towards dismantling the Model Minority Myth in their work and community.
They have a passion for learning Asian American history, mostly in California, and the connection to how food has changed through the generations. They collectively have over ten years of experience in customer service, operations, administration, and hospitality. They have been with Groundswell Fund for over six years as one of the early Asian staff.
During their time with the organization, they have co-managed over a dozen convenings in person and virtually for Groundswell Fund with a focus on operations and logistics. They have had a deep commitment to building relationships with vendors and consultants with similarly aligned values.
They have been co-leading a Language Justice committee within Groundswell Fund to incorporate practices within the organization. Outside of their work with Groundswell Fund they have been working with local people in the Sacramento, CA area on domestic rabbit advocacy. They have been organizing with folks on education and changing policies within the area on the treatment of domestic rabbits, backyard breeding, and animal abandonment.
