Building Power through Trans Pride: TAKE Resource Center

IVE grantee Transgender Advocates Knowledgeable Empowering (TAKE) Resource Center is the only center of its kind that is led by Trans women of color in both Alabama and Pennsylvania.

TAKE offers services to support members with care and healing from trauma, including peer support groups, retreats, life coaching, a transitional housing program and drop-in center, and a crisis fund.

As the onslaught of anti-trans bills swept state legislatures in 2022, TAKE mobilized trans people and allies through political education, voter registration, and voter engagement. TAKE built power through Pride and other community events, offering education on how legislatures are attacking trans-youth and how to fight back, helping the community process the rage and then catapulting them to take action.

In 2022, TAKE’s efforts gathered hundreds of supporter pledges in Alabama and Pennsylvania and then engaged and mobilized these new members through the midterms.
