Lorena is a proud first-generation, UCLA-educated Chicana born and raised in Compton, CA. She brings over a decade of experience serving national, multi-regional growing systems-change organizations and building and strengthening organizational infrastructure.
As a labor and workplace studies student in undergrad, she worked with various day laborer programs in Los Angeles, leading to a 9-year tenure at the National Day Laborer Organizing Network as the Director of Administration.
Prior to joining Groundswell Fund, Lorena was the Development Director at Jobs to Move. While at JMA, Lorena helped drive JMA’s fundraising strategies that catalyzed JMA’s growth – nearly doubling the organization’s operating budget and staff size.
As Executive Administration and Operations Manager at Groundswell, Lorena is thrilled to apply her expertise to unlock more resources for women of color-led organizing.
