Deep Roots, Deeper Transformations: Groundswell Fund’s 2025 Impact Report
2025 was a year of profound challenge and extraordinary leadership in movement.
As attacks on bodily autonomy, democratic participation, and community well-being intensified across the country, grassroots organizations continued to organize, care for their communities, and build civic power. They defended access to abortion and reproductive healthcare, advanced birth justice, protected trans communities, strengthened civic participation, and created the conditions people need not just to survive, but to thrive.

Today, we are proud to share Deep Roots, Deeper Transformations: Groundswell Fund’s 2025 Impact Report, a reflection on the final year of our Blueprint and the movement leaders who made its impact possible.
In 2025 alone, Groundswell Fund moved more than $11.5 million to 114 organizations. Over the course of the Blueprint, Groundswell Fund distributed more than $80 million to grassroots organizations across 49 states and U.S. territories, contributing to a combined $100 million+ investment through Groundswell Fund and Groundswell Action Fund.
Inside the report, you’ll find:
- Stories from grantee partners advancing reproductive justice, birth justice, trans liberation, immigrant justice, and civic engagement.
- Highlights from five years of grantmaking through the Catalyst Fund, Birth Justice Fund, Liberation Fund, and Rapid Response Fund.
- Examples of grassroots victories that expanded access to care, strengthened democratic participation, and protected communities under attack.
- Reflections on the lessons that shaped Groundswell’s new Movement Solidarity model.
One lesson stands above the rest: bodily autonomy and democracy rise and fall together.

The same forces restricting reproductive freedom are also attacking voting rights, targeting trans communities, criminalizing immigrants, and concentrating power in the hands of a few. Our grantee partners understand these connections because they live them every day. They are building the community-led systems, relationships, and infrastructure needed not only to resist these attacks, but to create something better.
As we close the Blueprint chapter, we are building toward the future.
Groundswell’s next phase centers deeper investment in local and state-based organizations, stronger movement infrastructure, and long-term support for leaders building the foundations of a multiracial feminist democracy.
The work continues. The stakes are growing. So is the possibility.
