Rooted in Organizing, Rooted in Birth Justice: SISTA Fire

In partnership with the Center for Third World Organizing (CTWO), the Grassroots Organizing Institute supported SISTA Fire towards its goal of deepening solidarity with allied organizations who support their Black Maternal Health Campaign and Birth Justice demands.

In 2022, through Community Action Trainings from CTWO, SISTA Fire was critical in creating an intergenerational movement-building space to increase outreach and engagement with women and nonbinary people of color from other organizations and communities.

The space also enabled members to deepen their knowledge, skills, and experience in organizing work and the history of organizing in Providence, Rhode Island, where SISTA Fire is based.
