Empowering Black Trans Lives: I Am Human Foundation

Rapid Response Fund and Black Trans Fund grantee, I Am Human Foundation, was created to empower the lives of LGBTQIA individuals and create a safe space for individuals who are homeless, living with HIV, and trans youth, with a focus on those who experience discrimination due to their lifestyle or gender identity.

In February 2022, with support from Groundswell, the I Am Human Foundation organized and supported its base constituents to vote in the Georgia elections. They focused on helping trans and gender-expansive people access identification that matched their identities so individuals felt empowered to register to vote, with many casting their first-time ballots.

I Am Human is determined to continue to elevate the narratives of trans and gender-expansive communities and to combat the barriers to bodily autonomy in this post-Roe v. Wade era.
