Laura Nixon is the Program Director for Reproductive Health and Justice at The Educational Foundation of America (EFA). In addition to leading this grantmaking program, Laura works closely with the EFA Board to develop and implement the Foundation’s shareholder engagement strategies to further align its endowment with its values. Laura also serves as Treasurer of the Appalachia Funders Network Steering Committee.
Prior to joining EFA, Laura held positions at the Office of the General Counsel at City University of New York, the National Center for Lesbian Rights, and the Center for Reproductive Rights. During law school, Laura served as the editor-in-chief of the school’s law review and worked closely with Pregnancy Justice and the Brooklyn Family Defense Project. Prior to law school, she led case management on the National Abortion Federation Hotline and helped organize the revival of the D.C. Abortion Fund from dormancy.
