Louis Gurka is the interim Program Associate for the Capacity Building Team at Groundswell Fund. Louis is originally from Elkhart, IN (RV capital of the world) and attended college in Muncie, IN, where he graduated from Ball State University (BSU) with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and minors in Spanish, Social Work, and Women and Gender Studies.
At BSU, Louis worked as a Peer Advocate Leader, facilitating workshops, and educating his peers about social justice issues, including gender and disability. After graduation, he took a detour to Nashville where he was a Small Business Advisor with Dell, building skills in sales, administration, de-escalation, and stress management.
Louis desires to advance sustainable social change. Outside of work, he volunteers with SONG Power and SURJ (Showing Up for Racial Justice).
Louis is a Taurus and in his free time enjoys eating good food, making body care products, and rollerblading.
