Groundswell Fund supports approximately 40 organizations across the United States. Our grantmaking focuses on bolstering and scaling organizations that are building a grassroots base of support for reproductive justice (RJ) policy and systems change; on organizations that are reducing poor birthing outcomes by expanding access to community-based midwifery and doula care. We acknowledge that systems change takes time. Thus, the vast majority of our grants are for general support, and we commit to funding efficient and effective organizations over many years.* We award grants through three funds (below), and through our capacity building programs. CatalystThe Catalyst Fund uses donor outreach and matching grants to leverage and direct new resources to organizations that are led by women of color, low-income women, and transgender people and building an organized grassroots base of support for RJ.

Rapid-ResponseThe Rapid Response Fund provides the philanthropic community with a vehicle for deploying resources quickly and strategically to RJ organizations during unexpected and critical campaign fights and key opportunities.

The Birth Justice Fund supports organizing, advocacy, and direct service delivery efforts to make high-quality midwifery and doula care and training accessible to women of color and low-income women: a key strategy in addressing alarming rates of poor infant and maternal health outcomes in communities of color.
