In April, Free Hearts was awarded $10,000 to support their Free the People, Free the Vote campaign to promote local jail voting in Nashville, TN, during critical Governor and district attorney elections.

In 2020, Free Hearts launched their inaugural Tennessee Regional Organizing Fellowship, focused on investing in the leadership of formerly incarcerated women across the state in the areas of base-building, political education and leadership development.

Did you know that slavery is still perfectly legal in Tennessee?  Tennessee’s Constitution reads: “That slavery and involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime, whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, are forever prohibited in this State.”

This year we must change that! We are people across TN who are not considered free according to our TN Constitution. We are joining organizations, faith homes, students, and elected officials across TN and around this country to end slavery forever.
