Alexiss Kurtz-Hoggard is excited to join the Groundswell team as the Integrated Voter Engagement Program Manager. Growing up in N.E. Washington, DC., Alexiss survived being a teenage runaway and became a successful leader in the political arena. Her purpose is to motivate “broken” girls and to help them with their internal war battles through healing work.
Alexiss believes that Black women are the foundation of their communities and that there is a need to heal those rearing future generations. She also seeks justice for Black birthing and breastfeeding, Black mental health, and missing Black girls.
In her previous role at Movement Politics Director for Progressive Maryland, she created a campaign strategy to reach 100,000 voters in Maryland. She also pioneered and fundraised for a training program to recruit and train first-time candidates for local and state elections.
She is a versatile campaign strategist with eight years of experience developing political strategy, overseeing personnel, logistics, operations, and ensuring political success through personal development. She is a former member of the national strategic think tank, People’s Action Movement, serving on the Movement Politics Executive Committee to influence national political strategy.
Alexiss brings her vision to integrate training and personal development throughout the organization, a unique experience as a Millennial Woman of Color, and a consultant of feminine leadership training and coaching.
